Resolutions

Happy New Year!  I was thinking about resolutions and goal setting for the year.  Here are the top three things I want to accomplish this year:

1. Run a Marathon

“But, Jason, you’ve already signed up for a marathon.”  I know, but as Morpheus taught us, “There’s a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.”  We all know I registered myself to run the Rock & Roll USA Marathon on Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Washington, D.C.  However, I’ve only registered so far.  I haven’t run a marathon yet. So, I can’t check it off my bucket list until I’ve actually done it.

2. Play “Big Boy” Ultimate

I miss playing ultimate.  It’s not just the sport itself I miss.  I miss playing for a team.  I don’t mean the random groups of people I get (more or less) assigned to play with in rec. leagues.  I mean a real team with real camaraderie and who conduct practices and travel to tournaments.  I have a few teams in mind I want to try out for this year.  I don’t know if I’ll end up playing professional ultimate or traditional club ultimate, but I do intend to play.

3. Travel to a Foreign Country

I’ve never been overseas.  In fact, I’ve spent very little time in places that weren’t on the east coast of the U.S.  I think this should be the year I finally get myself a passport and go somewhere new.  I’m not necessarily thinking of running any races in other countries.  I’m sure that would be a really cool way to see some sites, though.  A lot of big races tend to showcase some of the more popular/famous landmarks in each respective city.  I’ve always wanted to visit Italy.  I’ve also been growing a desire to tour Greece recently.  Yeah, I think I’m going to try to go someplace this year.  I deserve it, right?  Any suggestions?

So there you have it.  These are my top three goals for 2013.  What are your New Year’s Resolutions?

  1. 3. Do it! Greece is relatively cheap these days because of their bad economy so their prices are more affordable than ever to attract tourists. Also, it’s beautiful there!
